Design and Construction of Patterns

Through the design of patterns process the shape and dimensions of the clothing details are determined. Details have different shapes and sizes, depending on design features.

Designed patterns have flat shapes which are obtained from geometric elements: the surface, the line (base line and / or the helpline) and the point (base point and / or point of aid).

In the design process, the patterns have different shapes and sizes depending on the role they have in the stage or the realization phase, being called: classical patterns; basic patterns and multiplied patterns.

More about Designing and Construction of Patterns

For building classical patterns for product details, it can be done separately, for each detail or by groups of details, depending on their position and their link in the product framework.

The basic pattern is obtained from the classic pattern, which once is transformed in the model, it adds the stitch and stitch and hems supplies. The multiplied pattern is obtained by enlarging and decreasing the base pattern, applying grading rates specific to each detail and product design.

Permanent in the clothing industry, a considerable amount of time and material means for the development of new clothing patterns are consumed, but not always the patterns are different.

In order to assess the novelty level of a product, it must be approached in the light of the significance given by the specialists in this field. A new product is the good or the whole of the goods which either presents one or more new attributes, a modified number of attributes, or puts a value in an attribute that was not known compared to existing products on the consumer market.

When designing a new product, you must start from the following:

$

The process of grading it compared to the existing offer must be due to significant differentiation;

$

Differentiation to be caused by novelty;

$

The novelty to be recognized and appreciated both producer and distributor, but especially by the consumer of the new product.

These elements must contribute to the real enrichment of the respective assortment in accordance with market requirements and the level of technical, economic, functional or aesthetic characteristics in which the differentiation is expressed as compared to similar products.

The novelty of a product may have as its source:

9

Using a new raw material, which requires adopting the existing technical-engineering design solutions;

9

Using a raw material which is a new context, with implications for manufacturing technology;

9

Making a new type of clothing product which involves changes in the structure of the technological lines on which it will be made, of the manufacturing preparation process;

9

Creating a new model that involves the development of technical documentation related to manufacturing.

Among the listed sources, the development of new models is most commonly used in the clothing industry.

The model means the identity of a type of clothing product given by aesthetic, constructive and technological particularities.

Several models developed from the same basic building forms the model family. The collection is the complete system of clothing models elaborated by coordination, interdependence and development of plastic ideas established in correspondence with a chosen theme.
